I am a fashionbeasta. fashionbeasta: a wannabe fashionista who likes kit kats too much

Once upon a time I had a blog. Now, I have an out of date collection of my inane musings gathering cyber dust, much like my home laptop which sadly only gets used for watching guff on TV.
Today I got my Topshop NEWGEN Mary Katrantzou t-shirt through the post along with a totes adorable limited edition free tote bag and the sad reality is I probably WON’T post a photo of me wearing it. The reasons for this are twofold: I am still carrying a little Christmas weight (approx 100lbs of quality street) and I’ll probably wear it with the same jeans I wear EVERY DAY and my Dr Martens.
Since my last post I have definitely bought a fair few things but nobody really needs me to talk about the seamless footies I picked up in Primark. In case you are curious footies are those funny little socks that are even smaller than trainer socks designed to wear with pumps and stuff. This stuff is blogging GOLD.
Obviously it has not escaped my attention that it’s London Fashion Week at the moment (my Twitter timeline is rife with #LFW related tweets and with each one I read I think I turn a little more green) and rather than go into detail about shows I haven’t attended I will simply say this: I NEED Alexa Chung’s JW Anderson paisley print pyjama style trousers in my life immediately.

I'm too tired to be fabulous

I always had this idea that when I was an 'adult' I would be fabulous. I don't really like the word fabulous but I do like what it implies albeit somewhat cheesily. My naive, child-self thought that by 24 I would be living somewhere cool, with an enviable wardrobe, exotic lifestyle and most importantly, immaculate, shiny hair. Oh if only I knew then what I know now.

Don't get me wrong, I really like my life but I simply don't have the time or the energy to be fabulous. Tonight, for example; I came in from the gym, ate my dinner (steak sandwich-delicious), put my gym stuff in the wash, paired some socks, and am now just waiting patiently in my pj's for Masterchef to start. The most exciting part of my evening was probably laying out my outfit for work tomorrow, or listening to my dad curse after he dropped his dinner and the dog got it.

I see so many bloggers post insanely beautiful pictures day after day; they go wonderful and exciting places and they always look incredible. I go to Livingston (arse end of nowhere) and sometimes Starbucks or Nandos. My hair is rarely shiny or immaculate and my wardrobe is shady, at best. But I'm only 24, I've still got a whole lifetime to try to be fabulous!

Something to strive for-Olivia Palermo is definitely FABULOUS

Happy new...Shoes

Happy New Year everybody, I can't believe it's 2012 already. Time flies when you're trying to have fun. Hope you all had a riotous and scandal filled NYE, mine was embarrassingly tame. In fact, I boogied with my parents and was tucked up in bed by 1.20am, I am the anti-cool. That being said I love spending time with my family, especially at Christmas! I had some time of work too which was great: I love my job but with all the December partying I was definitely in need of a rest. And boy did I rest; endless hours were spent in front of the TV watching crappy teen movies and eating chocolates, it was a pretty perfect set-up. Alas, all good things must come to an end and I'm glad to be back at work and in a routine, at least I will be once my body remasters the 6am wake-up call.

New Year is famously a time to re-evaluate your life and start a fresh. The gym gets busier, people stop smoking and sales of Special K are at an all-time high (I have had 4 tedious bowls in the last 2 days). This year, there is so much I'd like to achieve, but, instead of making a list of resolutions I have decided to just try to stay positive; I'm hoping that with a little bit of positive thinking good things will come my way. If those good things just so happen to be a lottery win and the body of Miranda Kerr then that would be just wonderful.

What better way to start the year than with a new pair of shoes? My shoe mountain is getting pretty precarious: piled high with an assortment of heels, wedges, brogues and pumps. The newest addition to my footwear family is these super cute Superga rubbers from Schuh. I live in my Converse high tops and have been eyeing up a pair of these canvas trainers, as worn by the lovely Alexa Chung, for months. When I saw that these ones were down to £24.99 in the sale I just couldn't resist however wearing them today in the horizontal rain was probably not the best idea.

1. silver blouse, raspberry leigh jeans-topshop, watch-michael kors
2. jumper-h&m, black leigh jeans-topshop
3. coat-vintage, midi dress (just seen)-topshop, glasses-ray-ban
4. jacket, detachable collar, jeans-topshop, shirt-urban outfitters
5. coat-vintage, suede panel sweatshirt-h&m, jeans-topshop, converse-schuh
6. OK so this isn't me, this adorable creature is my friend's puppy coco, look at her new jacket!

You can't tell from my face but the heating in the section of the office I take my photos in is broken and it's FREEZING. I'm slightly concerned I may have frostbite as one of my toes is horribly sore and swollen and also a bit purple, not that your interested in a stranger's scabby feet, I certainly wouldn't be.

My Christmas party dress has now arrived and although I don't look like a Victoria's Secret model in it, I think it will suffice. It's got sequins on it and they're right festive. Now I just have to stop eating Christmas confectionery.

#TodayImWearing Round-Up 6

1. blouse-urban outfitters, bib necklace-primark, jeans-topshop
2. jumper, stained glass effect dress-topshop, bracelet-primark, watch-michael kors
3. woolly jumper-vintage, checked shirt-urban outfitters, leigh jeans-topshop, converse-schuh
4. aztec sweatshirt-topshop, leather look skirt-h&m

A very brief round-up of last week's outfits unfortunately: I had a completely 'bleugh' day in the middle of the week when I wasn't feeling right and quite frankly looked like crap so that's why there are only four midweek photos. As for weekend pictures, I had a massively lazy weekend slobbing about in my pj's, catching up with all my favourite TV programmes and eating bacon rolls and fudge. It was bliss.

I've been buying bits and pieces over the last few weeks but none of them have made their spectacular debut on the blog yet and after weeks of searching I have finally bought a Christmas dress. It's nigh on impossible to find the perfect outfit for the party season and although I'm usually a fan of separates, Christmas is a time where I think a dress is appropriate, and it helps if it's sparkly. The winning dress should be arriving tomorrow so I'll keep you all updated on whether it's THE ONE.

On account of having the inevitable rubbish Sunday night sleep I'm exhausted so I'm going to watch Misfits and have an early night in preparation for terrible Tuesday!

Tumblr

I got a Tumblr a couple of weeks ago and if I’m honest I still don’t fully understand how it works. It seems to me that the norm is to reblog pictures of beautiful things and this is fine with me as I could spend the rest of my days looking at stunning photographs of waif like models and celebrities. I do worry however that I will get sucked into this visually breathtaking yet vacuous world: I already feel a little bit less attractive having spent my morning intermittently drooling over girls with banging bone structure, incredible jewellery, long hair, and even longer legs. My time on Tumblr may be brief, my sanity is at stake.

You can find my first foray into Tumblr here.

#TodayImWearing Round-Up 5

1. coat-vintage, velvet tunic-vintage, leather shorts-topshop
2. jumper-topshop, jeans-uniqlo
3. jacket-topshop, dress-asos
4. jacket, sweatshirt-topshop, utility trousers-next
5. jacket-topshop, ombred jumper-h&m, diamante studded shorts-topshop
6. lace shirt-primark, nude oversized vest-american apparel, jeans-topshop

I can't believe I'm on my 5th #TodayImWearing round-up, it doesn't seem like that long ago I was tentatively trying it out on Twitter. I've found the whole thing to be quite helpful as it means I have made more of an effort to mix up what I wear everyday. I have a tendency to get into a bit of a style rut and wear the same three items every second day: I admit that a few things have snuck in once or twice (in the case of my fur collared Topshop jacket, approximately 100 times) but I have made a conscience effort to fully showcase my wardrobe. The downside to it all? I keep buying new stuff! Oh well.
